Another venue in the heart of the town is Stratford’s Town Hall, a magnificent setting for chamber music. You will see the words 'God Save The King' painted on the facade. The King in question was George III and the Town Hall was built in his reign to replace an old market hall which was filled with guns and ammunition in the English Civil War in the 1640s and then (accidentally?) blown up.
